Every hero has a limited set of combat skills, that cannot be altered during the game. Using heroes with the right combination is key.

There are 2 categories:

  • Defence skills
  • Attack skills

Combat skills are mostly advanced through leveling up heroes. When a hero has a broader set of combat skills, the advancement will be spread out more. Hence more focussed skill sets have a bonus over jack of all trades, but can be limited to certain play styles. Additionally combat skills can unlock global improvements, this can increase attributes, add new abilities or give buffs. This means versatile heroes can potentially outmatch their brothers with a more single minded skill set and offer unique combos.

Defence skills

Limited to 2-4 per hero. Every hero has at least one armor skill and the shield or dodge skill. Light and Heavy armor are mutually exclusive.

There are 5 defence skills in total:

  • Light Armour
  • Medium Armour
  • Heavy Armour
  • Shields
  • Dodge

The armour skills is the main defence and linked to the armour worn by the hero. These skills can further decrease penalties on the heavier armour and increase defence even more.

A hero will boost his defence score by using or the shield skill or the dodge skill. Both have advantages. A hero with a shield will always use the shield skill, a hero without the shield skill will never wear a shield.

Attack skills

Limited to 1-5 per hero. Every hero has at least one core combat skill.

There are currently 7 core attack skills:

  • Blades
  • Axes
  • Maces
  • Polearms
  • Daggers
  • Archery
  • Crossbows

There are currently 6 support attack skills:

  • 2 Handed
  • Dual Wielding
  • Throwing
  • Tactics
  • Berserk
  • Monk
